I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it for you.  There are now four books in the Candy Holliday murder mystery series, each one is our favorite ! In Town in a Pumpkin Bash Candy will have her 40th Birthday celebration on a spooky Halloween Eve.

Traveling Books

      Thanks to the many readers and fans who have embraced the residents of Cape Willington, Maine, and provided numerous creative ideas and suggestions. It would be fun to track each book, and meet the reader at it's destination. Opening e-mails from you is like opening a present. Thanks to you, I  have donated books to help raise money for earthquake relief in New Zealand and Japan. I have helped a wonderful 8th grader with her writing projects - Keep up with the great writing Ally! I have had readers who have parallel lives with residents of Cape Willington, which is quite amazing to read about. We have even reached the dental world through Lois Hirt, a dental hygienist who writes a column on Hygienists In Print-Fiction and Non Fiction. Through her, a copy of Town in a Lobster Stew is now at The National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland.
So, a great big Thank-you!

Needhams

Several years ago I read a wonderful book called Candy and me (A Love Story) by Hilary Liftin. I thought of her today when I tasted my first Needham. How long have I been in Maine without ever tasting one? I thought the smooth dark chocolate rectangle would be filled with caramel. What I tasted instead was creamy delicious coconut~ and later found out it has mashed potato mixed in with the coconut.They originated in Portland, Maine in 1872. The box I was given had 4 Needhams in it. Only a one day supply, okay, maybe 2 days.
I would love to have a recipe for them if anyone would like to share.

Wanda!

I had  thoughts of a relaxing day until Mary Ellen Graner called me at 6:30 am.  Her cat ate his "little fishies" breakfast this morning, was let outside and didn't come back. She thought someone stole him. Doc said he would feed the girls, so I left right away. Boy- was I annoyed when I got there to find Wanda already there questioning Mary Ellen . How does she do that? It's like she has special Wanda waves. At 6:30 am! The case was solved quickly, the cat was in the neighbors tree house sleeping on a bale of hay. Mary Ellen kindly invited me to breakfast. Wanda left to get to another story.

Blueberry Bits

The contest to rename Candy's newspaper column is over. Thank- you to everyone who entered! The suggestions were all great. The judges chose Blueberry Bits as the winner!!
